Knee injuries

Because of the relative mobility of the meniscus damage can occur through twisting and loading injury mechanisms such as tackling in football, or landing in netball.

During pivoting and landing type process injuries, in addition to meniscus damage, knee ligaments damage can be a result. This often leads to instability of the knee.

Ageing can cause a deterioration of the flexibility of the cartilaginous structures of the joints. Middle and older age groups of people suffer damages to the meniscus and articular cartilage with minimal- force injuries. Usually in these age groups there is underlying degeneration of the articular cartilage in addition to damage to the meniscus.
